2024 Lesson Policy
Greetings Everyone! It is a pleasure to be working (and playing!) with you. Each year, I like to review my current policy so you have a clear understanding of what is expected of you, as a student, and me, as your teacher. Please note that I have recently raised my rates slightly (my first increase since 2017!)
Lesson Rates starting June, 2022
Weekly/Bi-Weekly:
30 Minute Lessons - $33.00
45 Minute Lessons - $49.00
60 minute Lessons - $65.00
I also offer Group Lessons. Rates will be determined by number of students in the class. Call or e-mail for more information.
Occasional "Drop-in" Lesson rates are $70.00 per hour.
I request payment for each month's lessons at the first lesson of each month, unless other arrangements are made.
Cancellation policy – When you sign up for an every week, or every other week lesson, I am reserving a particular time slot for you. You, in turn, are committing to that particular time slot. If you cannot make your scheduled lesson, please make arrangements with me to reschedule that lesson, preferably within the same week that the lesson was missed. Make-up lessons cannot be carried over into the next month. I will allow 1 scheduled missed lesson per semester (with no required make-up time) without charge. After that, if you do not wish to make up the lesson (or I cannot find an alternate time for you in my schedule), you will still be required to pay for it.
To ensure the prosperity of my business, I request at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling a lesson. This gives me the opportunity to fill that time slot with another student. If the cancellation is less than 24 hours prior, I will reschedule at my discretion, as my time and schedule allows, and you will be charged for that lesson, regardless. I realize that last minute emergencies and illness do sometimes occur, and (if I am notified) I will honor those circumstances, unless I feel this policy is being abused. "No shows" will always be charged in full.
If I need to cancel a lesson for some reason, I will make every effort to reschedule your lesson in a timely manner. If we cannot reschedule, you will of course not be charged.
Summer schedules are considerably more “loose” than during the “school year” to allow for vacations, etc. We usually discuss an intended number of lessons for the month at the beginning of each month, realizing that schedules could change (for both of us!). I still request as much notice as possible, and my policy for last minute cancellations still applies.
Tardiness - Please make every effort to be on time for your lesson. I will likewise strive to be ready for you at your appointed time. If you are late, please know it is likely that I will still need to end our lesson at the appointed time, so it benefits you to be here on time. If I am running late, you will get your full lesson time.
Practice – I do not have steadfast rules about practicing, but I will say that practicing each day (even if it is just for 15-20 minutes) tends to be more productive than practicing for an hour once or twice a week. Try to establish a regular practice time, but please don’t beat yourself up if you happen to miss it. We all seem to lead very busy lives!
The main thing is for us all to have fun while we learn! I sincerely hope you've found that to be true so far, and that it continues to feel that way for you. I am always open to suggestions on how to maximize our time together or make it more rewarding for you. Please let me know! Your feedback is important to me.
Thank you! Colleen |
